Jack,

Everything Bill said below is true. I'd like to add the new Falken Azenis
RT-61K to the list of street tires. It comes in a 195/60-15:

However, you will find many more choices in 15-inch sizes. The street tires and
R-comps I mentioned in my response to the RX-8 owner are mostly available in
15s. There are also lots of fairly light wheels available in sizes like 15x7,
and 15 seems to be the sweet spot for the NA and NB Miata.

Hi Jack,

If you are actually just looking for 14" high-performance street tires
and not actual DOT-rated competition tires, there are a couple good
choices in stock 185 width. For example the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1
Star Spec is available in 14" rim size and is about the best
high-performance street tire you can get for the money. You can also
get the Yokohama AVS ES100 one step down the performance ladder. One
more step down and you can get the Summitomo HTR200.

If you are looking for DOT-rated competition "sticky" tires, there are
even more choices. Go to tirerack.com, put in your car or tire size,
and see all the choices.
