      Do automatic transmission and RX8 go together?  Depends on your desires and ability. 
      At 71, with shifting skills waning, I reluctantly chose an auto.  Paddle shifters work well, and let you get the revs up for decent performance when so inclined.  At 80, I use the auto setting more often.
       The 2004 tranny was adapted from the 626 -- four speeds.  Later models -- from '65, I think -- have a new six-speed.

They also had a couple of automatic RX8's... hmm, do automatic and RX8 go 

together? There weren't any manual trans on the lot.
