[MSCW list] Restarting car after sitting for 6 months or more

Im a former motorcycle mechanic. People would bring their bikes in to get
worked on in the spring after sitting all winter. It was ALWAYS BAD GAS and
dead battery. NEVER spark plugs. Possible a chewed wire or rotted rubber
hose but always BAD GAS. With cars you might have problems with stuff
growing in your gas tank, fuel pump or fuel filter.
A quick way to check to see if your car has a lack of fuel is to spray
starter fluid down intake opening. If it starts its probably not getting
gas. Might even require draining the tank. Bummer. Ask your service
person what they do for a car that has been sitting.
