[MSCW list] LIFT SUPPORTS FOR 1983 RX-7

The thing you will need to consider is what kind of stress will one good piston put on the hatch glass. The struts on my car are quite strong. If you ease the opening of the hatch with your hand each time you use it, to balance the pressure, you should be ok but to simply open and let the pistons raise the glass could rack the glass enough to stress it. Something to ponder...

The hatchback on my 1983 RX-7 doesn't stay up because the lift supports have lost their pressure. Advance Auto Parts sells a universal Strong Arm lift support that they say fits my car. I was considering buying a new left-side lift support only, since the right-side lift support (which has all the rear-wiper wiring & connections) is not available. My hopes are that one good lift support will be enough to hold up the hatchback. Any advice? Will one "universal" lift support look bad? Thanks.
