[MSCW list] Thanks (re Miata radio problem)

Thanks to Paul Monte-Bovi, Bryan Blackwell, Larry Wilbur and "Mimi" all of
whom responded to my inquiry last week about buzzy Bose speakers in my '03
Miata. The consensus seems to be that the Bose system buzzes, booms and
produces generally poor sound all the time, but is significantly worse in
damp weather (true) that affects the speaker cones, and there's probably not
much that can be done about it short of replacing the speakers with
expensive Clearwater speakers, a brand I had never heard of before. They
directed me to a website, _sfoskett at slf.gweep.net_ (mailto:sfoskett at slf.gweep.net)
, which seemed to confirm their conclusion. The info is particularly
disappointing since the Bose system was supposedly a "premium" item that came
standard only on the fancier model Miatas. I guess I'll just live with the
annoyance, but at least the responses saved me some wasted time and costs in
searching for the cause. (I'd still be glad to hear from anyone who has
encountered the same problem or, better yet, a cheaper solution.)

Hi All,
Just a quick reminder about next weeks meeting. This will be our second at
Silver Diner. The food is good, the space is good, and hopefully the
weather is great!
We have a great new centralized location for the monthly club meetings.
It's the
Silver Diner, Tyson's Corner, VA - Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00pm. This is
right
off of the 495 beltway on Route 7 - just a couple of blocks. It should be
a
great solution for MD folks southbound, DC folks westbound, as well as VA
folks
north bound and east bound.
The Silver Diner is a modern take on the classic diner - Cadillac chrome
and
all! (Only, the rollerskating waiters are missing!) They have great shakes
and
good menu ranging from summer salads with fruit to bison burgers to bacon
and
eggs. http://www.silverdiner.com/
Members will start gathering in the parking lot between 6-7pm. We will
have new
cars to view in the lot to be followed by dining, a guest speaker and the
general meeting.
Hope to see you there!

Our next Nova tech session is scheduled for the 13th of May.
For many of us this is perfect timing as our first autocross of the year
is the following weekend. Exciting!

I have for sale 4 stock wheels and tires from a 2009-2012 (NC2) MX-5 Miata.
The wheels are 17x7 et 55 and weigh 17.0 lb.? The tires are 205/45-17
Bridgestone Potenza RE050A with a build date of Week 4, 2009.? The OEM TPMS
sensor are included.? The tires have about 7200 miles on them, and what wear
exits is pretty even. ?Photos are available.
The parts are located in Montgomery Village/Gaithersburg, MD.
I'd like $200 for the complete set.

I have for sale 4 Yokohoma Advan Neova AD08 Tires, size 255/40-17, with a
build date of Week 37, 2009.? They have half a season of autocross and
about 15,000 street miles on them.? These were used on an NC (third-generation)
Miata, which is very easy on tires.? The wear is pretty even, and there's
lots of tread left. ?I think these would work well for an STR NC build or
an STX RX-8 build.
The parts are located in Montgomery Village/Gaithersburg, MD.
I'd like $100 for the set.
