Our drive will begin at 10:30 at the Trader Joe's by the intersection of VA
28 and US 29 (14100 Lee Hwy, Centreville, VA 20120), and head west on US 29
and other roads to Upperville VA where we'll join US 50 west briefly before
following a loop that takes us from US 50 along the Shenandoah river to VA
7, then east on VA 7 to Blueridge Mountain Drive Southbound back to 50, and
then US 17 to Grove Road to the Barrel Oak Winery at 1 PM.
The roads are twisty with elevation changes, so set your own pace and give
folks ahead of you some room. I suggest that for this drive we put folks
who like to go faster through curves in the front of the pack, though we
will NOT be hooning along. Don't lose sight of the person behind you!
At Barrel Oak there will be wine tasting available, food (wood fired pizza
for sure, others likely), and likely some live music. The owner will try to
reserve parking for us as a group but this may not be available. The winery
site can be found at www.barreloak.com, and the winery IS pet-friendly.
Folks can stay as long as they wish, and from the Winery one can follow
Grove Road East to rejoin VA 55 or hop on I-66 near Marshall.
Timeline:
10:00 Gathering and Car Chatting
10:30 Depart Trader Joe's, Centerville
13:00 Arrive Barrel Oak Winery
Please RSVP as soon as possible - The sooner I can give a decent estimate of
attendance to the winery, the more likely it is we'll get reserved parking.
