Conrad,

Sorry to hear about your dilemma. 

1.  Make sure that what you think is water is indeed water. I discovered wet carpeting in my ‘97 a few months ago (coincidentally after a prolonged rain event) only to find out that my heater core had failed and flooded the floor with coolant. Not fun, but fixable. 

2. Check that your top latches are adjusted so that there is significant tension to create a tight seal between the glass and the rubber seal of your top. 

3. Look for a possible leak by taking a bucket of water and slowly pouring water where the top meets the glass. Without opening the door, look through the glass to see if there is any sign of water beading or dripping on the inside of the glass. Pay particular attention to places where rubber pieces come together, such as where the top folds. 

4. Look for deformities or kinks in the rubber lining of the top (and around the main windshield frame) that would compromise a tight seal.
