FOR JACK MCCOMBS:  I fully agree with you about new radios being unnecessarily overly complex, and about Crutchfield not having products which are really compatible with our cars.  I tried unsuccessfully to find somebody who could refurbish my RX7 OEM system (which I kept after the new aftermarket system was installed) -- maybe Jeff Anderson could help me -- if you can send me his email address, I would be grateful.

The talk about stereo installation reminds me that I have an NB Bose head
unit and speakers that I'd be glad to give to anyone who can use them.  I
replaced the stock Bose stuff in my 2004 MX-5 Mazdaspeed with an
aftermarket system when the car was new, and it's been sitting on a shelf
ever since.  Note, though, that these don't include the power amp, which is
a separate unit and, although not in use, was never removed from the car.

I still have and love the car, by the way.  A couple of years ago my wife
and I took it on a 10 week, 11 thousand mile cross country rode trip.
Perfect.

If you can use the Bose gear, or have any questions, just get back to me by

I?m not interested in a replacement audio system for our two Miatae, but Benita, if you still have your original Miata radio from your ?92, I?m interested in buying it.  I recently bought a newer audio system from Crutchfield?s in Charlottesville, and it turned out NOT to be what I was told it was.  As with all newer audio systems, it is overly complex and exceedingly time consuming to learn, and way more complex than I want to mess with while driving.  I pulled it back out of the car and reinstalled my OEM radio after having it refurbished.  Jeff Anderson, who used to be an MSCW member and who now lives in FL, is an expert on refurbishing OEM radios from early Miatas.  So:  Bottom line, I?d like to have another OEM radio from a 1st Gen. Miata, as a backup in the event that my present radio develops some terminal illness that cannot be economically repaired. Please let me know if you?re interested in selling your OEM radio, assuming that you still have it.
