[MSCW list] MSCW Digest, Vol 57, Issue 7

More, regarding car stereo repairs: Several years ago, I took my 1991 RX7 to Hurley's near Tysons Corner, and they were able to repair it. However, I found -- and other customers also stated this in their reviews of the place -- that the manager of the store used language that was clearly socially/ethnically offensive. Certainly he has the right to such views under the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, but clearly also I have the right to take my business elsewhere, which I have done.

Give a call to Hurley?s in Tysons. They?ve been doing this forever, they also repair factory radios.

Does the club have a list of Miata-wise mechanics in the area....especially

Hi all!
Looking for a good place to install my Progress Springs (per Good-win spec)
and a precision alignment on my ND2. I am in Arlington. Any recommendations?

Thank you.
I thought I was being slick taking the `94 to the Dealer for 200k check-up
estimate, then to one of Consumer Checkbooks double-checked local mechanics.
Saved $, but not everything was fixed,& when I took it back & pointed out
the omissions the shop could not figure out some electricity issues (lots
of pretty good mechanics are not so great electricians)_ & that the
handbreak needs a new cable after a week. This has been the first time
Consumers Checkbook has not been the best source of quality (& cost) for me
on anything.
Even with the incomplete repair, this vehicle is a great drive over the +/-
9 mile/40 mph drive to work. Second only to the `96 a pickup backed into
on a lot. The `91 was nice, but under-powered. For some reason, the `97
was not as good as the 96. Some family & friends have purchased Miata`s
because it is well known I am mechanically stupid, only a mediocre driver
on a good day and only do maintenace -light....yet 3 of those suckers
survived 200K + in spite of the `nut behind the wheel`.
FYI, aftermarket radios have gone into all 4 NAs & all those radios worked
just fine.
This listserve has been a godsend & is very much appreciated.
