The Drive: Our first long drive of the 2021 Season begins at 11:00 AM on April 24th at StoneSprings Hospital Center (On US50 West, take a right on Medical Road and a left into the parking lot). We'll head west on US50 to the Rotary with US15, then north on US15 and then make a left onto one of the "fun" roads in the region - Lime Kiln Road. We'll follow Lime Kiln (at a spirited but not crazy pace) and join Snickersville Tpke before heading North to Round Hill and Hillsboro, where we'll pick up Charles Town Pike into West Virginia and heading to Shepherdstwon VA. We'll park at the Shepherdstown University lot downtown while we have lunch, and then when we leave, we'll head across the Potomac to Canal Road, and follow that beside the River and C&O Canal to join Harper's Ferry Road and spend more time along the river and cross under the railroad near Harper's Ferry. We'll follow river-hugging roads to Brunswick, and then cross the river back into Virginia, and then head to Lovettsville where we'll join Mountain Road (more spirited driving) back down to Charles Town Pike and head east until we get to VA7 near Purcellville. At that point folks are free to find their own way home. It's about 90 minutes in either direction, with 90 minutes for lunch, so we'll be ending near Purcellville around 3:30. Total distance driven is around 80 miles.

Dining: I'll make a reservation for the group at the Blue Moon Cafe, which has indoor and outdoor seating. You can find more about the restaurant at https://bluemooncafeshepherdstown.com.

Parking in Shepherdstown: The parking lot at Shepherdstown University has plenty of room and is free on weekends.

Logistics: Start Date/Time: 4/24/2021 at 11:00 AM. The signup genius is at https://bit.ly/mscw2021-se-1. The signup is limited to 18 cars for this drive. We will probably have some pack leaders on the drive as well to manage the smaller sub-groups. The map list (with links to GPX/KML files) is at https://www.midatlanticscenicdrives.com/maps.html. Note that the drive is in one google map but divided into two separate files (one for the outbound and one for the return) - this makes it easier for folks to load the routes in REVER or on their GPS. If the weather is bad on the 24th we'll shoot for the 25th.
