Subject: [MSCW list] 2022 Drive Season Look-Ahead
Message-ID:
Looking ahead to our 2022 drive season... We usually have a group drive at least once a month, and sometimes we'll have a couple in a single month. Broadly, we do shorter scenic drives lasting between 2 and 4 hours and they usually include a meal. We also try to do a couple of "destination" trips where we'll take most of a day to go visit a place or something, and we try and avoid interstates on our way out and back.
In the past, we've had "destination" trips to the Cass scenic railroad, out to Blackwater Falls, or a tour of lighthouses on the Chesapeake, or a tour of the Fallingwater house by Frank Lloyd Wright. We've even taken some overnight trips, including one to the Watkins Glen racetrack. We also normally do a night drive in the summer for stargazing along the Skyline Drive, and we've had trips to Wallops to watch a rocket launch as well.
Please share your ideas for scenic routes or destinations. You'll find this post on our Facebook group as well, so you can reply here or add something to the thread on Facebook.
Drive safely and HAVE FUN,
Timothy (Tim) Metzinger
