This will be a short drive, reversing some segments we've taken in the past, and ending up at Bear Chase Brewing for lunch. It'll be the last drive I lead before I head west on my Grand Tour of the USA and Canada (https://bit.ly/tmm2024grandtour). Not to worry, there will be a second drive to the AACA museum in June, led by Kenny and Ian.
Our drive will start at the battlefield parking lot near the Stone Bridge over Bull Run, on US29 west of I-66. We'll head west on 29 then make the right by the Stone House on to VA234 (Sudley Road) and then cross US15 to get on Waterfall Road and that until we get to the railroad crossing in The Plains, where we'll turn right and head north towards Halfway and Middleburg. When we get to Middleburg, we'll take a left and had west on US50 and take that to Blueridge Mountain Road, where we'll enjoy the twisties while being cautious around the DHS emergency management facility. At the end of Blueridge mountain, just before we reach VA7, we'll make the right into Bear Chase Brewing (https://bearchasebrew.com/), which has expanded their food and beer offerings in the past few years. At this point folks can order their own food, and hang out as long as they like (maybe bring a blanket if you want to lounge on the grass), and make your way home via a variety of nice roads, such as Snickersville Turnpike.
We'll likely want to have subgroups for this drive as there is the potential for a large group to be split at intersections. If you're interested in leading a subgroup for this drive, send me an email message.
Logistics:
Assembly - We'll begine to assemble at the Battlefield Parking Lot (near Bull Run) at 10 AM on 6/1/2024. Please have had breakfast, and have at least a half-tank of gas and an empty bladder. There is fuel near the US29/I-66 intersection east of the start.
Departure - We'll depart at 10:30 AM
Time/Distance - approximately 50 miles, with 1.5 hours planned to get to Bear Chase, which should have plenty of parking.
Food - Bear Chase Brewing
Car limits - 25
Weather - If the weather is bad, we will try again on 6/2/2024
Technology- I will bring nine extra Midland GMRS radios. If you want to bring your own GMRS radio, we will be using Channel 30 on Midland Radios, or 462.7000 MHz frequency and CTCSS 17 for the privacy code. In Glympse, we'll use the !mscw_cruise tag to keep track of each other. I'll have GPS for the subgroup leaders, and there may be an extra as well.
RSVP via signup genius at https://bit.ly/mscw2024-sc-4. Don't use Facebook to indicate you're going.

Drive safely and HAVE FUN,
