I'll make one comment regarding autocross - moving to coilovers does bump the car up a class in most rulesets, I'd suggest having a conversation at a club meeting just so you know what else there is to consider (tires are usually at the top of the list).  There is also a brand new SCCA class just for the NC Miata that is a 'spec' class, you might look into that in the future if you decide to do more than an event or two per year.
