Subject: MSCW 2025 Picnic #1 - Warm-up Drive - October 1, 2025
This drive will take us on a couple fun roads (Lime Kiln and Snickersville) and then back (via US15/VA620/VA659/VA234)to the Brownsville Picnic Area in he Manaassas National Battlefield Park to join folks for some socializing and food. Since folks will likely have food and drink in the car, we will NOT be taking these roads at a spirited pace - it's a good opportunity for new folks to learn where to have fun on their own time. The drive will last about 75 minutes.
Logistics:
Assembly - On Saturday, October 11th, we'll start assembling at 8:15 AM at the Stone Springs Hospital East Parking Lot (U50 and Medical Drive. Fuel and bathrooms are at an Exxon east of the Hospital
Departure - We'll leave the lot at 8:45 AM.
Time/Distance - less than 40 miles / 75 minutes to the picnic area.
Fees - None
Food - Please bring your own food, drinks and a dish to share. Note: there are no grills provided in the park.
Car limits - No limits for this drive.
Rain Date - Just like the picnic, the 12th is our backup.
Technology - I will bring thirteen extra Midland GMRS radios. If you want to bring your own GMRS radio, we will be using Channel 30 on Midland Radios, or 462.7000 MHz frequency and CTCSS 17 (118.8 Hz) for the privacy code. In Glympse, we'll use the !mscw_cruise tag to keep track of each other. I'll collect the radios at the Monument or the restaurant - just be sure to return them before you head home.
RSVP via signup genius at https://rebrand.ly/mscw2025-pcnc-01. Don't use Facebook to indicate you're going. The signup will be closed on 10/09.
